The visionary initiative ALPHA MISSION – DELOS returned to the heart of the Cyclades for its 6th International Gathering on May 16 and 17, 2026. Centered on the theme The Pulse of Life: Reconnecting Personal and Planetary Health”, academics, scientists and artists explored the living relationship between human wellbeing and the health of our planet through two days of meaningful dialogue, insightful discussions, exchange of ideas and profound human connection.

Reinforcing the initiative’s mission to encourage public awareness and civic engagement around the major challenges facing life on Earth, this year’s distinguished speakers also met with the local community of Mykonos. On Saturday, May 16, 2026, residents warmly embraced the open event held at Manto Cinema, featuring keynote speakers Vassilis Lambrinoudakis (Emeritus Professor of Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Dr Stamatis Krimigis (Emeritus Director, Space Exploration Sector, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory; former President of the Academy of Athens) and Dimosthenis Sarigiannis (Director and Chairman of the Board, National Hellenic Research Foundation; Professor of Environmental Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).

The speakers were introduced by Dimitris Athanasoulis (Director, Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades), Nikos Sergis (CEO, Hellenic Space Center) and Vangelis Karkaletsis (President, Demokritos National Centre for Scientific Research).

The evening opened with remarks by Alexandra Mitsotaki (President & Co-founder, World Human Forum), Dimitris Papastergiou (Minister of Digital Governance) and Christos Veronis (Mayor of Mykonos), before concluding with a screening of the award-winning concert film The [Uncertain] Four Seasons.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the gathering continued at the ancient theatre of Delos with the participation of prominent scientists, researchers and artists. This year’s speakers included Daniel A. Barber (Professor of Architecture and Chair of the Working Group on Architectural History and Decarbonisation, Eindhoven University of Technology), Alexander Choukér (Academic Director, Senior Physician and Head of Research Laboratory I “Translational Research in Stress and Immunity”, University Hospital Munich), Adrianos Golemis (Astronaut-in-training; Associate, Hellenic Space Center; Lead Flight Surgeon, MEDES – European Space Agency), Niki Evelpidou (Professor, Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Athena Coustenis (Research Director, CNRS, France), Yadvinder Malhi (Professor of Ecosystem Science, University of Oxford), Jacob Moe (Founder & Director, Archipelago Network), Dr Alexis Paterson (Senior Music Programme Producer, Schwarzman Centre, University of Oxford) and Jochen Sandig (Co-founder & Vice-President, World Human Forum).

The day began with an onboard presentation and guided exploration led by Professor Vassilis Lambrinoudakis on the Asclepieion of Delos and the holistic approach of the ancient Greeks to healing. As the evening light spread across the Aegean, participants shared a collective message through an interactive artistic workshop. They also contributed their own voice to the concert The 5th Season, featuring Socrates Sinopoulos on the lyra and Diana Tishchenko on the violin, which brought the gathering to a close.is Doukasat respects and protects life in all its forms.
