The presence of U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle brought an international dimension to the opening of acclaimed Greek artist Ioanna Efthimiou’s latest solo exhibition at Myconian Villa Collection.
Held on 25 July, the event gathered distinguished guests from the worlds of art, business, shipping, fashion, diplomacy and international society. Against the sweeping Aegean backdrop of Elia Beach, guests were introduced to My Myconos, a new body of work inspired by the island’s energy, character and enduring cultural identity.
Known for her vivid palette, pop-inspired visual language and use of powerful, recognisable symbols, Efthimiou presents a highly personal interpretation of Mykonos. Her works create a dynamic conversation between contemporary expression and the island’s cultural heritage, capturing the contrasts, colours and cosmopolitan spirit that have made Mykonos a source of inspiration for generations of artists and travellers.
As the evening’s guest of honour, Ambassador Guilfoyle drew considerable attention with her warmth, confidence and commanding presence. Her attendance reflected the event’s international character and highlighted the role of art and cultural exchange in creating meaningful connections between Greece and the United States.
The exhibition found a fitting setting at Myconian Villa Collection, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Legend Collection. Owned by the Daktylidis family, the hotel’s refined architecture, panoramic views and close relationship with the Mykonian landscape provided an elegant setting for Efthimiou’s expressive works. Throughout the evening, art, contemporary Greek hospitality and the natural beauty of Elia came together in a singular experience.
The opening concluded in a celebratory atmosphere, confirming Mykonos’s growing presence on the international cultural calendar. With My Myconos, Ioanna Efthimiou invites collectors, art enthusiasts and visitors from around the world to encounter the island through her distinctive creative vision.
The exhibition is open daily at Myconian Villa Collection until the end of September 2026.
