Meet Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel, the owners of the 24 – hour beach retreat that combines bohemian style and a laid-back, luxurious atmosphere.

Is Mykonos still for you the island of free spirit and amazing live musical performances?
Music-wise, the island has drifted in the direction of a younger crowd. Our aim is to explore new paths of music, choosing from the best DJs; our main focus this year is a combination of electronic and instrumental music with strains of Greek influences.

What’s going to amaze us this season?
This year, our “Agora” concept has been expanded and converted to a proper market place. Giving our best to heighten the sensory experience of our guests, we brought Scorpios Restaurant closer to Sunset beach, offering a combination of new flavours with our updated menus, unique atmosphere and music.

In a clear invitation to unwind, let go and reconnect, a perfect mix of rural charm and understated elegance sets the tone in this natural paradise.

What were the key factors that contributed to Scorpios’ success?
In today’s hyper-accelerated pace, the need to slow down and restore balance takes on a new relevance. It is equally essential to understand the tastes of an ever evolving, style-savvy traveller who is forever in search of unique experiences. In a clear invitation to unwind, let go and reconnect, a perfect mix of rural charm and understated elegance sets the tone in this natural paradise. Scorpios is spearheading the cultural shift from nightclubbing to afternoon ease – taking all-day lounging, al fresco dining and sunset gazing to a holistic new level. An inclusive atmosphere and a full range of family- friendly activities add to the easygoing aura.

Spiritually, the Dalai Lama is an inspiring leader with whom I would love to spend time.

Staying true to your vision, Scorpios Beach Club pays tribute to the ancient Agora, the open-air meeting place of ancient Athens.
The location itself is perched on a ridge between two stunning sandy beaches, embraced by the wild wonder of a protected nature reserve. The sun-blessed peninsula offers panoramic views over the crystal clear Aegean Sea and Delos in the background, with the precious luxury of an eastern sunrise and the sunset over the southern cliffs. The energy is just captivating!

If Scorpios was your real home, which famous person would you like to have as a guest?
Well, Scorpios is my real home. I just need a bed. Personally, I would like to invite Eric Schmidt (the executive chairman of Google). I had the chance to be involved with him on a couple of panel discussions, as well as having him as a guest during the last summer at Scorpios. Then Quentin Tarantino, personable, easygoing and a great artist. Spiritually, the Dalai Lama is an inspiring leader with whom I would love to spend time. But, most of all, I would love to welcome my family and friends. After all, that’s what Scorpios is all about!
