Chef Tasos Almpanis Talks Authentic Mediterranean Seafood

Cooking up a storm at Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Celebrities at the Myconian Imperial, Chef Tasos reveals the secrets of seafood in this interview.

Cuisine and service are the centrepieces of the famous Myconian Imperial hospitality, so it is no surprise that Executive Chef Tasos Almpanis has funnelled his passion into Celebrities, a Mediterranean seafood restaurant.

It is one of Mykonos’ top choices, well known and loved for the tasty treasures of the Aegean it serves up. Celebrities’ approach to luxury means paying attention to the finest detail and using only local fishermen’s freshest catch.

Tasos cooks exclusively with locally grown, seasonal and organic ingredients. He’s a fervent proponent of pure flavours which should not overwhelm but bring out the best in what the Mediterranean has to offer. Sea bass with black risotto, vegetables and lobster sauce is just one of the highlights in his repertoire. It goes without saying that there is much more to be discovered – not only Tasos’ acclaimed seafood creations but also delicious meat and vegetarian dishes that are not to be missed.

The freshness and actual flavour of seafood should not be overwhelmed by displays of culinary virtuosity

This year, the Imperial’s Celebrities restaurant has chosen to focus on treasures from the deep, with 90% of our dishes emphasizing sea food. Naturally, there are also delicious meat  and vegetarian dishes”, explains Tasos Almpanis, who lends his “signature” to excellent dishes. He also recommends that customers try the Aegean lobsters caught by local fishermen between Mykonos and Tinos. He insists that the freshness and actual flavour of seafood should not be overwhelmed by displays of culinary virtuosity for their own sake.

Grabbing a front-row seat to endless Aegean seascapes and browsing the menu of Celebrities Seafood Restaurant at the Myconian Imperial is the opening chapter to a gastronomic experience you’ll savour and reminisce for months to come.
